Exploring the possibilities - Assignment 4

I started building on a set-up for Assignment 4, which involves demonstrating a variety of lighting techniques, and shot a few preliminary images.  My idea is a series of self-portraits.  Ironically, a coursemate is considering working with skulls.

22 April:  So, here's what I've produced after a few days of tinkering and puttering.  Both shots were made similar to the one above, but with slightly different intentions.  One was backlit and intended to demonstrate a silhouette, the other side lit and intended to provide a partially-lit silhouette   Both of these were made with the idea of displaying the form, or shape, of the subject. How well do they succeed?  The backlit one is obviously pure silhouette.  The other seems interesting for providing just a touch of detail, of which you don't want too much or you'll get lost their instead of noticing form.

One of the images was flipped to provide the impression of a whole.
